Women's Athletics Campaign

Southern Illinois University Athletics is proud to launch the historic $1 Million Women's Athletics Campaign, an initiative dedicated to strengthening the future of Saluki women's sports while honoring the remarkable legacy of Vicky King, one of SIU's most passionate advocates for women's athletics.

This campaign will establish $250,000 in endowed support for each of four championship women's programs: golf, volleyball, basketball, and softball. These endowments will provide lasting resources for recruiting, leadership development, equipment, travel, nutrition, and other program priorities that enhance the student-athlete experience and support long-term competitive success.

The campaign will also establish the Vicky King Head Softball Coach Endowment, permanently naming the position in honor of a trailblazing Saluki student-athlete, educator, coach, and administrator. King's impact on SIU and generations of student-athletes reflects the values of leadership, perseverance, and opportunity that continue to define Saluki Athletics today.

As one of the first female student-athletes at SIU to receive a full athletic scholarship following the passage of Title IX, Vicky King's story represents the transformative power of women's athletics. Through this campaign, her legacy will continue to inspire future generations of Saluki student-athletes and coaches.
